The awards month begins with the announcement of the winner of the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction on 4 June, but there are several other interesting award announcements coming, among them the IMPAC Dublin Literary award and Australia’s biggest prize, the Miles Franklin Literary Award.

While the fairs and festival calendar is not particularly busy this month, the publishing month begins with an eventful day on the 3rd, with among others new books by Stephen King and Lisa See. Later in the month we can look forward to books by Robert Galbraith (alias for J.K. Rowling), Terry Pratchett (with Stephen Baxter) and Javier Cercas. There are also several interesting debuts this month, such as Emma Healy’s novel about an alzheimer’s patient trying to solve the mystery of a missing friend and Boris Fishman’s story of a failed journalists asked to forge Holocaust restitution claims for Jews in Brooklyn. So lots to look forward to as usual.
